we have a purebred border collie ( he is purebred, as i have been around stock dogs all my life ) that came to us about a month ago. we have since tried to find his owner and have not been able to. we named him hitch and my guess is he around a year old. someone had worked with this dog but it looks like their patience wasnt in to it because this dog will work stock until the sun goes down and then some. however, he has no recall whatsoever, so you actually have to pull the truck up open the door and here he comes. i would really love to keep this dog but i do not have the time to work this dog to keep him content, he is your usual stock dog..he needs a job and gets bored very quickly. he does have all his basic commands such as sit, stay and down..he loves his chairs and when told he will happily take a flying leap in it!..this is a great dog but will need someone who can let this dog do what he needs to do and was bred to do.
I WILL NOT, under any circumstances give this dog to the wrong person for any reason, he can stay here and chase horses and a goat so if you have never had a border collie/ stock dog do not even call me please as i will not give him to you for any reason.. i will have many questions so be prepared. if i feel like it is a good fit you reallly will have a great dog. he gets in the truck/car and you really do forget he's there, he doesnt rush the doors to get out til he gets home and is in the same place he was when you come back. if i had the time beleive me i would be keeping this guy. hitch would probably make a great agility dog as well.
there will be a fee..not a re homing fee but if you are serious about this dog and know the breed a fee wont matter. we have wormed him but have not tried him in the house.
again please do not call or email if you do not meet the requirements above and if the post is on here we still have him..f.y.i..calling just to ask the price isnt a good idea either. i am not tring to be rude but i will not waste my time with questions like that. you can email or call me at ..oh yea..hitch will not make just an old farm dog either, if you have stock you better be prepared to work hitch or he will take it upon hisself to.
